Basic Principles in Drug Discovery

Course Coordinator: Benjamin E Blass

The science of drug discovery includes a wide range of disciplines.  It is critical that scientists involved in this process are familiar with the basic concepts of each area.  In this course, participants will receive an introduction to the fundamental principles of drug discovery and development.  Topics to be covered in this course will include important drug targets by class, in vitro screening methods, medicinal chemistry strategies in drug design, pharmacokinetics, animal models of disease states, clinical trial basics, andintellectual properties considerations.
